Attention For All Students (From Arabian Gulf University)

  • Students doing their training sessions at BDF or SMC, please adhere to the policies of the hospital concerned (on dress code and indentification requirements). The medical school will not take any responsibility for any negligence shown by students in this matter.
  • Sick leave: ONLY FOLLOWING FOUR CONDITIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED VALID FOR ABSENCE FROM EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES:
    1. Death of immediate family member (i.e. spouse, parent, sibling or grandparent).
    2. Involvement in accidents, court case or other adverse circumstances.
    3. Hospitalizations.
    4. Participation in overseas official events approved by the university (e.g. students conferences... etc).
  • End-of-Rotation Exam Absence: ane absence from the end-rotation exams without a legitimate excuse submitted on time to the concerned clinical department chairpersons will be considered as a FAILED FIRST ATTEMPT of the medical student. The end-of-rotation exam components (written, OSCE and the clinical) marks will be documented as ZERO in the transcript. The medical student will be compulsorily required to do his SECOND RESIT ATTEMPT immediately with the next available exam schedule of the concerned clinical department.

Salmaneya Medical Complex (SMC) Policy

All students attending doing their rotations in SMC must adhere to the following:

  1. Every student must show his identification card.
  2. Students must intorduce themselves to the nurse in charge in each department and explain what they are going to do.
  3. Students must introduce themselves to the patients and ask them for permission before examining them (don't disturb patients if they refuse).
  4. Students are not allowed to copy or take any photos of patient's medical records (confidentiality).
  5. Students must make sure to keep quite in medical wards and allow doctors/nurses to do their job without disturbing them.
  6. Students must wear a lab coat and show their identification card.

King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) Policy

  • All students are requested to adhere to the policy of wearing the required uniform (blue scrubs or material and footwear).
  • Lab coat and colorful scrubs are NOT allowed in KHUH.
  • Food and drinks are NOT allowed in the clinics.
  • Students are requested to adhere to theatre protocols with regards to sterilization and patient's safety as well as the attitude inside theatres and changing rooms.
  • AGU students are requested to sign the attendence sheet.
